The Project

Nationwide Fencing Services were excited to be a part of the £20m contract to deliver the latest phase of development at the flagship Liverpool 2 deep-water container terminal to expand the footprint of the site and see an extra 10 cantilever rail- mounted gantry cranes and three ship-to-shore cranes installed.

Owned by the Peel Group, the deep-water port facility, one of the most operationally efficient and modern terminals in Northern Europe, can handle the world’s largest container ships and connects road, rail and canal networks linking directly to the heart of the UK mainland.

Value: £350,000

The Challenge

A unique and challenging project, with works ongoing within the live port environment and operational container terminal, Nationwide Fencing supplied and installed 2000m of bespoke 358 Galfan Marine Grade coated 40×40 Mesh fencing for perimeter guarding of the crane machinery, Profile V Mesh fencing to reefer gantries, as well as a number single and double leaf access gates with emergency escape industrial grade locking systems.

The Solution

The mesh fencing was installed on to posts which were adapted to allow them to be fitted within bespoke ground sockets to facilitate easy removal of the fencing for the installation and future maintenance of the heavy crane machinery.
